DOT inspections that fix what they find
Iron Forge runs your DOT inspection and repairs what it flags under one roof, so a commercial truck near Castle Rock or anywhere on the corridor does not sit out of service waiting on a second shop.
A DOT inspection near Castle Rock is the state-regulated annual safety inspection that commercial trucks and trailers are required to pass. A qualified inspector checks the vehicle against federal standards. Pass it and you are certified for the year. Fail it and the flagged items have to be fixed before the truck is road-legal again.
If your vehicle is registered as commercial and runs for a business, it very likely needs a current annual inspection. Newly registered commercial vehicles need their first one done correctly and on time. If you are not sure where your truck stands, call the shop and we will help you sort it out.
The inspection, end to end
The annual inspection follows the federal standard. These are the systems we go through on every truck and trailer.
Brake system
Linings, chambers, push rod stroke, air loss, and ABS. The most common failure category.
Steering
Steering wheel free play, the box, and the linkage that turns the wheels.
Suspension
Springs, hangers, U-bolts, and axle positioning parts.
Frame
Cracks, corrosion, and loose or missing fasteners on the frame and members.
Tires and wheels
Tread depth, sidewall condition, and wheels, rims, and fasteners.
Lighting
Required lamps and reflectors on the truck and trailer, including the connections.
Coupling devices
Fifth wheels, pintle hooks, and the safety devices that keep a trailer attached.
Exhaust and fuel
Leaks and mounting on the exhaust and fuel systems.
Glass and mirrors
Windshield, wipers, mirrors, and the horn.
If it fails, we fix it here
This is the whole point of bringing your truck to Iron Forge. A DOT inspection that finds a problem legally requires that problem to be fixed before the truck is road-legal. A mobile inspector cannot fix it. A repair-only shop cannot inspect it.
We do both. When we flag something, we can repair it in the same visit and certify the truck, so it does not sit out of service while you line up a second vendor. That is time the truck spends working instead of parked.
How long it takes
Plan for the inspection to take part of the day, and call ahead so we can get you scheduled. If the truck passes, you are on your way. If it needs work, we will tell you what we found and what it takes to fix it before we start, so there are no surprises.

DOT inspection FAQ
What is a DOT annual inspection?
It is the state-regulated safety inspection that commercial vehicles are required to pass every year. A qualified inspector checks the truck or trailer against federal standards, covering brakes, steering, suspension, tires, lights, the frame, and more. Pass it and the vehicle is certified for the year. Fail it and the flagged items have to be fixed before the vehicle is road-legal.
Who needs a DOT inspection?
Most commercial trucks and trailers operating in interstate commerce, and many in intrastate commerce, are required to carry a current annual inspection. If your vehicle is registered as commercial and runs for a business, it very likely needs one. If you are not sure, call us and we will help you figure it out.
What happens if my truck fails the inspection?
This is where one stop matters. A failed item has to be repaired before the truck is legal. A mobile inspector cannot fix it, and a repair-only shop cannot inspect it. We do both, so we fix what we flag in the same visit and get you certified without sending you to a second shop.
How long does an inspection take?
Plan for it to take part of the day, and call ahead so we can get you scheduled and moving. If the truck passes, you are on your way. If it needs work, we will tell you what we found and what it takes to fix it before we start.
What should I bring?
Bring the truck or trailer, its registration, and any prior inspection paperwork you have. If the vehicle has a known issue or a recent repair, tell us. The more we know going in, the faster we can move.
How often do I need one?
The annual inspection recurs every year. The due date is tied to your vehicle, so it comes up on a regular cycle rather than all at once. If you run a fleet, we can track those dates for you so nothing lapses.
